Card Games: Reading Poker Hands
Poker hands are ranked from best to worst. Some hands even have a name. For example, a hand with four cards of the same number is sometime called a 'poker'. Here is a list of poker hands ranked in order.
| 1. Straight Flush Five cards in sequence in the same suit.A straight flush from 10 to Ace is called a 'Royal Flush' . |  |
| 2. Four of a kind or a Poker A hand with four cards of the same number. |  |
| 3. Full House A hand with three cards of one value and 2 cards of another value. This is a 'house of twos over fours' . |  |
| 4. Flush A hand where all five cards are of the same suit. This is a spade flush. |  |
| 5. Straight or a Run A hand where the five cards can be arranged in numerical order. This hand is a straight, or run, to the King. |  |
| 6. Three of a Kind A hand with three cards of the same rank. This hand has three nines. |  |
| 7. Two Pair Two pairs of cards of the same value. |  |
| 8. One Pair This is the basic poker hand, where there are two cards of the same value. This is a pair of Jacks. |  |
